Susanne Brenner, Ph.D.

CCT Associate Director for Academic Affairs

Susanne Brenner is the LSU Center for Computation & Technology's first Associate Director for Academic Affairs. In this position, Brenner will coordinate mentoring of junior CCT faculty, promotion and tenure issues, graduate assistantships, and students.

Brenner, a professor with the LSU Department of Mathematics, is a 2005 recipient of the prestigious Humboldt Research Award for senior U.S. scientists who joined the CCT faculty in 2006. One of her specialty research areas is computational mathematics, which looks at how algorithms and other mathematical formulas can be honed to further develop tools for scientific computing processes, such as visualizations, simulations and software programs.

At the CCT, Brenner created the “Frontiers of Scientific Computing” lecture series, which brings world-renowned experts to campus to discuss a variety of topics on how mathematics relates to high-performance and scientific computing. Brenner also is faculty co-adviser of the LSU chapter of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, or SIAM, whose members explore new ways of applying mathematics to science, technology, and industry.
