Abstract: Personal Computers are an indispensable creative tool for artists and musicians. But it wasn't always that way. And the path from where personal computers started to what we expect from them today was anything but straight forward. And it's not just how we create that has changed. Technology is changing how we consume media. John Worthington takes you on an insiders tour of the technology behind that revolution, how it was developed and some of the happy accidents that led to today's media rich world.

Speaker's Bio: John Worthington is fortunate to have had a front row seat for the digital media revolution. At Apple, he led the original development of QuickTime as well as authoring the Macintosh MIDI Manager. He helped pioneer online music sales at MusicNet and created the first nonlinear video editor targeted at web video for Media 100. At Autodesk Media and Entertainment, he helped bring professional film effects to the desktop. He believes that you can't really understand the technology unless you use it. This has led to his production work on CDs, videos and DVDs, including a DVD for jazz legend McCoy Tyner.
