Research

I'm currently working on LSUGrid, which connects hundreds of Windows desktops around campus in a mixed Linux/Windows grid computing environment. By making better use of spare cycles, we can alleviate scheduling pressure on our traditional high-performance computers, and investigate issues with large-scale grid computing.

I completed an Honors College undergraduate thesis on demonstrating LSUGrid's viability and suggesting improvements from a similar project at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Both the slides from the thesis defense and the paper itself are available online.

Academics

  • Student, LSU Honors College
  • Recipient, LSU Alumni Association scholarship, 2003-2007
  • Recipient, Top 10%, College of Basic Sciences, 2005, 2006
  • Recipent, Andrea Martin Memorial Scholarship in Computer Science, 2007

Future

After my May 2007 graduation, I'll begin a Software Design Enginner position with Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit in Redmond, Washington. There, I'll work on Office for Mac, and improve my understanding of human/computer interaction, desktop software development, and computer-supported collaborative work, especially in terms of networked, real-time collaboration. (I also can't wait to join up with the Seattle Xcoders.)
