Red Stick International Animation Festival to Feature American Animation Market Speaker Lineup

BATON ROUGE – Why travel all the way to Hollywood when there is a fun and affordable opportunity to network with the biggest names in the animation industry right here in Baton Rouge?

Red Stick International Animation Festival, the largest animation festival in the United States, features the American Animation Market, giving content buyers and sellers, producers and professional development seekers an opportunity to meet, mingle and see up-and-coming ideas in the industry.

Red Stick events will take place April 22-25 in downtown Baton Rouge’s Arts District. As part of the festival, aspiring animators can purchase a Gold Pass for $50 to attend lectures and buy passes for workshops to learn animator skills hands-on. Red Stick offers discounted rates on Gold Passes for students, educators and ASIFA members.

Participants can purchase a Gold Pass through the festival Web site, www.redstickfestival.org.

The 2009 speaker lineup for the American Animation Market features:

•    Rachelle Lewis, a professional talent scout in the animation and visual effects industry who runs her own company, Rachelle Lewis Talent, which specializes in placing animation and vfx artists for film, gaming, and television studios worldwide.

•    Carmen Llanos, COO of Comet Entertainment, Inc. Llanos has worked as an executive producer, creative director and instructor. She is the recipient of numerous industry awards.

•    Raquel Benitez, CEO of Comet Entertainment, Inc. She has created animation for the Web, games and film and has received worldwide praise for her work. The books and software programs she has written are widely used in animation.

•    Leah Hoyer, Disney Television Animation’s Director of Development for Disney Channel Animated Series. During her tenure at Disney, Leah has worked on numerous series, including “Recess,” “Kim Possible” and “Phineas & Ferb.”

•    Catherine Branscome, head of New York City-based Branscome International, whose core business is Sales and Distribution services.

•    Heather Kenyon, a consultant specializing in animation and intellectual property development, who is the former senior director of development, original series at Cartoon Network.
