HPC Portal
Developers: Prathyusha V Akunuri, Archit Kulshrestha

The primary goal of this project is to develop a portal interface to display the machine information from GPIR Service. This interface will be extended to submit jobs on the resources displayed and be able to retrieve all the information about the machines from one single place.


SCOOP Portal
Developers: Chongjie Zhang, Theresa

SCOOP is engaged in real time prediction of severe weather events, including tropical storms and hurricanes, and provides operational information including wind, storm surge and resulting inundation, which are important for emergency management. The SCOOP portal, built with the GridSphere framework, currently integrates customized Grid portlet components for data access, job submission, resource management and notification.


UCOMS Portal
Developers: Promita Chakraborty, John Lewis

This UCoMS research aims to develop and deploy a Ubiquitous Computing and Monitoring System (UCoMS) for oil/gas exploitation and management. The UCoMS Portal group is responsible for developing a portal for the UCoMS Project. They have succeded to develop some simple portlets. Currently, they are developing the job submission portlet which would accept simple jobs. Their next step would be to tie it to the middleware so that users can submit their job. They would try to make the portal interface as user friendly as possible.


Cactus Portal
Developers: Ian, Oliver

The Cactus Computational Toolkit is an open source problem solving environment that originated in the academic research community. It was initially designed for computational scientists working with Einstein's equations in the field of numerical relativity. It has since evolved to provide a general parallel programming framework with which researchers from many different disciplines can easily create reusable modules, with well defined interfaces, to construct powerful and complex problem solving codes and environments.

Gridlab is working very closely with developers of Cactus to construct tools and services that will provide computational scientists with an easy-to-use and stable Grid platform on which they can build and execute their application codes. The Cactus Portal is one of the most visible software components being developed to support the Cactus project in these efforts.

The Cactus Portal is essentially a collection of Portlets and Portlet Services that work together to form a coherent set of functionality that provides the users of Cactus with what they need to work on the Grid. It will not only give end-users a standard place to stage, build and execute their jobs, but will also provide many value-added services such as advanced notification and content management systems tailored to their application's needs. The Cactus Portal will be built as a Java web application that runs inside the GridSphere Portal framework developed by the GridLab project. The advantages of using GridSphere come not only from the base set of functionality that it provides, such as user management and content display, but also from the value-added services that have been built into the GridSphere framework or packaged with it, such as a standard tag library and an array of Portlet Services ranging from credential management to interfacing with information servers and resource brokers.
