BATON ROUGE – For the first time, the Red Stick International Animation Festival is offering the public an opportunity to purchase tickets to attend its VIP Dinner and Awards Presentation.
This annual part of the festival, which provides guests an opportunity to meet and mingle with the animators, filmmakers, producers and other animation or video game studio representatives who attend Red Stick and present their work, will take place Friday, November 12, at 8 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom on the first floor of the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.
“For previous festivals, we invited only our sponsors, staff, and speakers to the VIP dinner, but many guests indicated they would like to attend and have a chance to personally interact with the speakers,” said Stacey Simmons, Ph.D., Red Stick International Animation Festival Director. “This dinner also gives the public a chance to provide fundraising support to help keep the festival thriving, as all proceeds from ticket sales will directly benefit Red Stick’s operations.”
At the VIP Dinner and Awards Presentation, the festival will present its third annual Red Stick Lifetime Career Achievement Award to an animator with a career of outstanding artistic inspiration. The festival’s panel of professional speakers is currently voting on the recipient for the 2010 award, and Red Stick will announce the honoree soon.
This year, Red Stick has partnered with the second international Sci-An Awards for Excellence in Scientific Animation to jointly present awards to international contributors in this field and honor one contributor with a special leadership award for demonstrating innovation in applying scientific animation to research or communication. The festival will present the 2010 Sci-An Awards during the VIP Dinner and Awards Presentation.
Dress for this event is after five (suits for men; cocktail dresses for women). Guests can purchase individual tickets at $120 each, or can purchase a table (seats eight.) Premium tables, those closest to the stage and speakers, are $1,000, and other tables are available for $800. Guests can purchase tickets online at https://www.ticketturtle.com/index.php?ticketing=rsiaf. Tickets will remain available until the event reaches capacity.
