BATON ROUGE -- Philip Holt, general manager of Electronic Arts’ Tiburon Studios, will give a talk at LSU on the experience of creating one of the world’s longest-lived video game franchises, “Madden NFL Football.” Holt’s lecture, "Living with ‘Madden’: The Drive for Consistent Excellence," will take place Wednesday, March 26, at 1 p.m. in Johnston 338. The talk is multidisciplinary, and anyone with an interest in the video game industry, including students, faculty and business people, can attend.
LSU’s Center for Computation & Technology and the Baton Rouge Area Digital Industries Consortium are hosting Holt’s talk as part of an overall mission to link educational institutions with the game-development industry.
Holt is responsible for managing Electronic Arts’ Orlando Studio, which is responsible for creating some of the most successful titles in the industry, including “Madden NFL Football,” “NCAA Football,” “Tiger Woods PGA Tour” and “NASCAR.” His responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of design, production, engineering and content creation for the most prominent Electronic Arts SPORTS series titles.
Every year for the past decade, Tiburon has released chart-topping products in the “Madden NFL Football” franchise, making it one of the most successful franchises in game industry history. Holt’s talk will focus on key elements that have led to a consistent level of innovation and execution for the game year after year, including production methodology, team building and balancing, creating a culture of innovation and performance, technology choices and metrics.
