Do you have an eye for animation? Would you like the opportunity to screen films for the largest animation festival in the United States? The opportunity is only a click away, at 2theadvocate.com!

This year, the Web site for the Baton Rouge Advocate newspaper and WBRZ has partnered with the Red Stick International Animation Festival to give more people a chance to log on and become part of the festival’s film jury.

“We are so excited to partner with this top news source for our area to get more people involved and to make Red Stick a true community event, with many people contributing to its success,” said Red Stick Director Stacey Simmons.

Freda Yarbrough, digital media director for 2theadvocate.com, added, "The Red Stick International Animation Festival exemplifies the changing landscape of Baton Rouge. It is 2theadvocate.com's pleasure to sponsor such a fantastic event for our community.”

The Red Stick International Animation Festival received a record-breaking 421 films from 45 countries in its submissions process, and will consider all films for its awards. Red Stick is seeking film jurors, who can register to participate through the festival judging site, available through http://www.2theadvocate.com/redstick/judging. Film jurors must be at least 18 years old. There is no cost to participate in the judging process, and no prior experience is necessary.

Participants will watch a selection of submitted films and will rate each using a provided online judging form. Red Stick will use these scores to help determine which films make it into the Best of the Fest screenings that will be shown during the festival, April 22-25.

Participants were able to submit work in eight categories: Animated Short Film (student and professional), Music Video, Scientific Visualization, Animation for Commercials, Animation for Games, Animation for Young Audiences, Experimental Animation/Visual Music (student and professional) and Storyboard Competition.

The Red Stick festival is sponsored by LSU in partnership with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Baton Rouge Area Foundation, East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President’s Office, Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Louisiana Economic Development and Baton Rouge Area Digital Industries Consortium.
