BATON ROUGE – Red Stick is looking for volunteers to work the 2009 festival, which will take place April 22-25 in downtown Baton Rouge.

The Red Stick International Animation Festival is an annual event that brings top names in the animation, gaming and digital media industries to Baton Rouge. For families, the festival features free film screenings and special events such as Cartoon-a-Palooza and the Princess Ball in the Old State Capitol.

Red Stick needs volunteers to work at the festival’s main venues – Shaw Center for the Arts, Manship Theatre, Old State Capitol and Louisiana Art and Science Museum – during the festival. Volunteer duties include taking tickets, checking passes, counting attendance and being available to assist the festival staff with operations.

Volunteers receive complimentary T-shirts, Red Passes to attend festival film screenings, food during their work shifts and a parking pass to use during their work hours.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and able to provide their own transportation to and from the festival. Children under 16 can volunteer if an adult accompanies them during their work shifts.

Anyone interested in being a festival volunteer should attend one of the festival’s informational meetings on Thursday, March 19 or Wednesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. in the Old State Capitol House Chamber. There will be a training session for all volunteers on Tuesday, April 14 at the Old State Capitol.

For more information, contact Red Stick Festival Volunteer Manager Travis Williams at twilliams@cct.lsu.edu.
