The glowing worlds of technology, art, exploration and entertainment collide, bringing forth this first-time festival that explores one of the most technically driven and widely accessible art forms of all animation at locations including the Shaw Center, Louisiana Art & Science Museum and Old State Capitol. Mounted by LSU's Laboratory for Creative Arts & Technologies (LCAT) - The Red Stick Animation Festival celebrates a watershed time in art, when the convergence of science and art has put new tools and media within reach of artists everywhere, and spawned ways of exploring the world unimaginged a decade ago. Highlights include:
Screenings of films that highlights all sorts of animation, including family entertainment, classic visualization, Anime, GenX animation, and abstract animation
Workshops for animators, with titles like Acting for Animators with Ed Hooks, Animator's Master Class with Mark Walsh, Human Anatomy for Animators with Stuart Sumida and Elizabeth Rega and Playing Games All Day with Cling Ourso
Lectures from industry representatives from Pixar Animation Studios and Sony Imageworks, as well as artists and others who work with the major studios.
