BATON ROUGE --- The LSU School of Music and the Center for Computation & Technology’s Laboratory for Creative Arts & Technologies will host "Cinema for the Ears,” an annual concert of experimental electronic and computer-generated music, next Wednesday, March 26 at the Manship Theatre inside the Shaw Center for the Arts.  

The concert will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission, $6 for students and available at the Manship Theatre box office or online at www.manshiptheatre.org.

In Cinema for the Ears, the musicians will present their compositions using LSU’s world-renowned 27-channel surround sound system, called ICAST.  

This edition of Cinema for the Ears will feature music by American and English composers affiliated with De Montfort University in the United Kingdom, including Leigh Landy, John Young, Rick Nance, Ron Perema and Brett Batty.  LSU composer and School of Music Professor Stephen David Beck will present the world premiere of his new digital music composition for Wiimote and computer, "A Little Light Saber Rattling."

The concert will take place in an "electro-acoustic cabaret" style, with casual tables, open seating, friendly discussion and a cash bar.
