Baton Rouge – The LSU Center for Computation & Technology will host a free screening of the new Disney feature film “Meet the Robinsons,” featuring an appearance by the film's director, Stephen Anderson. The screening will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, at Rave Theater, Mall of Louisiana location. Participants can watch “Meet the Robinsons” and afterward, Anderson will speak to the audience and take questions. “Meet the Robinsons” is rated G. The movie follows the adventures of Lewis, an orphan who unlocks the key to time travel and is able to journey into the future to help a family. This screening is part of the Red Stick International Animation Festival, which is sponsored through the LSU Center for Computation & Technology. Red Stick is an annual event that brings together artists, animators, filmmakers and computer scientists to showcase the latest developments in Louisiana's digital arts and technology sectors, which is leading to economic development for the state and the city. The festival will take place at a variety of venues in the downtown Baton Rouge Arts District from April 18-22. Saturday's screening is free; however, those who wish to attend must log on to the festival Web site, www.redstickfestival.org, and register for a Red Pass. A Red Pass is free and entitles the holder to attend all screenings during the Red Stick International Animation Festival, in addition to the “Meet the Robinsons” event. Those who have already registered for a Red Pass are eligible to attend Saturday's screening. The theater seats 268 people, and Red Pass holders will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Anderson will take questions following the screening of the film, and members of the media are welcome to interview him following the screening. Anderson always wanted to work in animation and loved Disney movies growing up, so he now fulfills that dream by working at Walt Disney studios. “Meet the Robinsons” is his directorial debut.
