LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 10 November, 2010 – Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has proclaimed 14-19 November Supercomputing Week in recognition of SC10 holding its 23rd installment in New Orleans.
The governor noted that high-performance computing is experiencing a major phase change for the first time in nearly two decades; and has been instrumental in addressing hurricane recovery and responding to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
Furthermore, information technology, digital media, and high-performance computing continue to be a driving force for both economic development and research breakthroughs in Louisiana, with several technology-focused companies, including game-developer EA Sports, recently locating in Louisiana.
SC10, set for 13-19 November at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, is expected to draw more than 11,000 attendees from industry, academia, and government. The conference, sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society and ACM, offers a broad spectrum of technical presentations and discussions, including rigorously peerâ??reviewed papers, panels, tutorials, workshops, and posters that showcase the latest findings from laboratories and research institutions around the world.
The SC10 Technical Program will feature 13 workshops highlighting aspects of the SC10 technological thrust areas and 33 tutorials showcasing current and developing practices in the community.
The IEEE Computer Society booth will be located in the L2 lobby. Among the hundreds of prizes being given away are organizers, notebooks, t-shirts, magazine subscriptions, copies of the Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK) and six-month access to courseware for the Certified Software Development Associate (CSDA) or Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) credentials.
The exhibit floor will open on Monday, 15 November with a gala from 7-9 p.m. Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 16 November and Wednesday, 17 November 17, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, 18 November.
