BATON ROUGE – Jorge Pullin, Horace C. Hearne Jr. Professor of Physics & Astronomy and interim co-director of the Center for Computation and Technology, or CCT, at LSU, was recently named to the General Council of the American Physical Society, or APS, the leading professional organization of physicists.

The council is the main governing body of the APS. Consisting of approximately 30 physicists, the council meets twice a year, sets policy and has the ultimate responsibility for the actions of the society.

Louisiana will have two members on the council, the other being Amber Stuver, a post-doctoral researcher at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory, or LIGO, in Livingston.
