Accessing IS from your computer

Each active user at CCT has network storage space on our file-server is.cct.lsu.edu. Within your network storage is public_html which maps to http://www.cct.lsu.edu/~username/. For more information about editing your personal webspace, visit the personal webspace documentation.

is.cct.lsu.edu currently has 14 terabytes of storage. At present, no quotas are set for this resource, but please keep in mind that this is a community resource that is shared by all of CCT's faculty, staff, and students.

In order to access your network storage space, please follow the steps for your operating system:

  • Linux - CCT workstations:

    Your home directory on is.cct.lsu.edu should already be accessible via the remote folder inside your local home directory.
  • Linux - Laptops and other workstations:

    You can access your home directory on is.cct.lsu.edu by using either sftp (from anywhere) or smbclient (on-campus only).

    sftp username@is.cct.lsu.edu
    smbclient //is.cct.lsu.edu/username -U username
  • Mac OS X:

    Go to Finder --> Click on "Go" from the Menu --> Select "Connect to the Server"

    smb://is.cct.lsu.edu/username

    Note that this will only work from on-campus. If you are off-campus, you can open Terminal.app and follow the instructions for sftp on Linux.
  • Windows:

  • For computers that are members of the CCT domain, your home directory from is.cct.lsu.edu is already available on drive Z:.

    For other Windows computers (on-campus only), you can perform the following:

    Go to Windows Explorer (or My Computer) --> Tools --> Map Network Drive:
    \\is.cct.lsu.edu\username
