CCT Deputy Director Honggao Liu
Dr. Honggao Liu has been working at Louisiana State University (LSU) for over 13 years. He researched multiphase reactive polymer flow in porous media and reservoir simulations during 1997-2002. He got his Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from LSU in 2002 and also had a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University and two M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University and LSU.
Liu has spent the past eight years working in High Performance Computing (HPC), from IBM SP, P5 and P5+ supercomputing systems, to large-scale beowulf clusters, and providing scientific computing consultation to researchers in science and engineering. He has been involved in scientific computing and applications support, supercomputing system deployment and administration over 100 TFlops total computing capacity, the state-wide Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI) project, LONI Institute, Cybertools, and HPCOPS (LONI joins TeraGrid) projects.
Liu is currently the Deputy Director of the LSU Center for Computation & Technology (CCT), Director of HPC at LSU and the Principal Investigator (PI) on LONI's NSF HPCOPS project. Liu works closely with the CCT Director in developing strategies to build an internationally competitive and recognized center for computational sciences. He also oversees all HPC activities and plays a leadership role in LSU and LONI's HPC development efforts. Liu has been instrumental in establishing HPC at LSU as a nationally recognized facility for providing production HPC cycles to researchers on campus, the state, throughout the nation, and across the world.
