Mehmet Balman is a doctoral candidate in computer science at Louisiana State University. He received his bachelor of science and master of science degree in computer engineering from Bogazici University. He got exposed to several years of industrial experience as system administrator and R&D specialist, at various software companies before joining LSU. He also worked as a summer intern in Los Alamos National Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He has been working in the development of Stork data placement scheduler, PetaShare, and Cybertools projects at CCT. His research interests include high performance scientific computing, distributed data management and job scheduling in widely distributed systems.

Richard received his MS and BS in Petroleum Engineering from University of Missouri Rolla. He has worked in drilling, stimulation, simulation, cutting, tool design, application development, manufacturing optimization, logistics, 3-D modeling, rock mechanics and explosives testing. In August 2004 he joined Louisiana State University as a doctoral student in the Petroleum Engineering department. Currently he is working at CCT, LSU, as a graduate research assistant in Grid Computing, Drilling Optimization, and Formation Evaluation research developing applications for the (DOE / LBR) Ubiquitous Computing Project (UCOMS). His current research interests include drilling optimization, vibration petrophysics, logging while drilling, finite element modeling of vibrating systems, and rock mechanics.

I graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology with a degree in applied physics and mathematics. The subject of my diploma was computing spectrum of semiconductor nanowires. Currently I am pursuing Ph.D. in physics under supervision of Dr. Manuel Tiglio. I started working at CCT in February 2006 as a member of numerical relativity group, and right now I am working on initial data for new generalized harmonic formulation of Einstein's equations. Another project, which I am doing at CCT with Dr. Burak Aksoylu from Maths department, is application of space and space-time finite elements in general relativity.

Chris received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University in May of 2003. Santiago graduated from University Blas Pascal in Argentina with a degree in Telecommunications Engineering. He earned an M.S. in Physics from the University of Texas at Brownsville and recently completed his second master's degree in Systems Science at Louisiana State University under the supervision of Dr. Gabrielle Allen, performing research on Grid Computing.

Currently, Santiago is a graduate assistant at the Center for Computation & Technology at LSU pursuing a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems and Decision Sciences under the supervision of Rudy Hirschheim. His research interests include SOA management, business ontologies, and the application of Grid technologies to business.

In addition to his research, Santiago works as Program Manager for the ParalleX Group. ParalleX is a revolutionary computational model created by Dr. Thomas Sterling to address the key challenges of efficiency, scalability, sustained performance, and power consumption with respect to the limitations of conventional programming practices.

I'm a doctoral student within the Computer Science Department. I completed Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Computer Science at Jackson State University respectively in 2003 and 2005 and started here at the LSU/CCT Fall 2005. Currently I'm investigating brokering techniques to help manage distributed visualization applications as part of the Enlightened Project. I'm also working with the Tangible Visualization Group to find ways to apply brokering and other distibuted computing concepts to support co-located, computer-supported, collaborative use of tangible interaction devices in scenarios such as remote visualization and teleconference sessions. Ian originally began working with the Frameworks division at CCT in the Fall of 2004. While in that group, he began to pursue research on machine learning and artificial neural networks (ANN). He presented a paper at the National Undergraduate Research Conference (NCUR) in Spring 2006 on a parallel ANN implementation. Ian then became part of the Scientific Visualization group where he now resides working on GPGPU and UltraGird.
