The Center for Computation & Technology has built an advanced visualization
and digital arts facility called the Laboratory for Creative Arts & Technologies (LCAT).
Central to facility is the Imaginarium, a 1700 sq ft research lab and presentation space, designed for visualization and immersive activities. It consists of :

  • Geowall passive stereo 3D system composed of two digital projectors, a projector screen, and a desktop PC with a powerful graphics card that allows the projectors to show stereo images and movies. The imagery is viewed using low-cost polarized 3D glasses.
  • A 16MPixel tiled display system built using the Apple 30” cinema displays. Presently driven by a Apple G5 2-Node cluster with NVidia GeForce 6800 graphics cards.

LCAT also has three smaller labs to support research and development in immersive audio technologies, high definition video and animation, and tangible devices for computer interaction. An Access Grid-enabled classroom seats 20-25 people, and an open collaborative meeting area also has Access Grid capabilities. Offices and visitor space are also available.
