Research

In the CFD IGERT program, IGERT students and faculty will work together on the development of improved multi-resolution parallel algorithms for a variety of interdisciplinary grand challenge problems in fluid dynamics. A key drawback in the current system is the lack of close collaborations between computer scientists or applied mathematicians, who focus on developing algorithms and tools, and the rest of physical sciences and engineering where such advances can be effectively utilized. The current program integrates research and education in algorithms, parallel and Grid computing, data mining and visualization together with the applications in fluid dynamics. All parties would benefit by this integrated, truly interdisciplinary approach.
