Curriculum Graduate students who participate in this IGERT program will be expected to complete a mix of interdisciplinary computational science (CS) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) courses that are team-taught and cross-listed across participating departments. Each student will initially be required to take a pair of cross-disciplinary courses [XD-I and XD-II] that have been designed to provide (I) an introduction to the basic concepts that underpin our understanding of the dynamics of fluid systems on a wide variety of physical scales, and (II) an introduction to the computational techniques that are presently being used in many disciplines to model complex fluid flows. Following the successful completion of this pair of introductory "XD" courses, each student will be expected to complete four (4) "advanced" courses, to be selected from the menu provided below . Each student's selection of a set of advanced courses will be made in consultation with the student's team of multi-disciplinary faculty advisors and will be taylored to complement the student's dissertation project objectives. |
